MCP Integration
Vibe Kanban supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP), allowing you to connect MCP clients like Claude Desktop to create tasks and extend your workflow.
What is MCP?
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is a standard protocol for connecting AI assistants to external tools and resources. Vibe Kanban works with MCP in two ways:
- MCP Server: Vibe Kanban exposes an MCP server that you can connect to from MCP clients
- MCP Client: You can connect MCP servers to your coding agents to give them access to external resources
Connecting Claude Desktop
To connect Vibe Kanban to Claude Desktop:
- Start Vibe Kanban on your local machine
- Configure Claude Desktop to connect to Vibe Kanban's MCP server
- Create tasks directly from Claude Desktop
- Monitor and manage tasks from Vibe Kanban
Creating Tasks from MCP Clients
Once connected, you can create Vibe Kanban tasks from your MCP client:
- Describe the task in natural language
- The MCP client sends the task to Vibe Kanban
- Vibe Kanban creates the task and assigns it to an agent
- Monitor progress from Vibe Kanban's interface
Benefits
- Seamless Workflow: Create tasks without leaving your AI assistant
- Extended Capabilities: Access Vibe Kanban features from third-party clients
- Unified Interface: Manage all tasks from Vibe Kanban regardless of where they were created
Configuration
To configure MCP integration, you'll need to:
- Enable MCP server in Vibe Kanban settings
- Configure your MCP client to connect to the server
- Test the connection
See the configuration guide for detailed instructions.
